Tried bleeding my brakes using the one man gravity method where you just crack the bleeder nipple open and let the fluid slowly drain out. Usually works flawlessly but this time my pedal was spongier than a sponge.

Then I had a thought, which was painful when I was washing my hands. Wonder if the liquid soap dispenser would be suitable to create a vacuum to pull the brake fluid through the system. So I took it out of the soap and put it into one end of some clear 5mm tubing and put my thumb over the end of the tube and pressed the dispenser. By gosh, it created a vacuum and tried to pull my thumb into the hole with no air leaks anywhere!

Tried it on the car but it didn't go so well sadly. But because the dispenser has a one way valve in it, you can press the brake pedal and fluid will come out of the dispenser, but air will not go back in.

Get some clear PVC tubing (fish tank tube/washer jet tube)
Cut it into 4 pieces and place one piece over each bleed nipple (hold the end in boiling water to soften it so it's stretchy before placing it on the bleeder, it will go on easy then try to shrink to it's original size once on the bleeder when it cools down creating a good seal)
Place the soap dispenser in the other side of the tube on the brake you're going to bleed (check vehicle manual for the correct bleed sequence)
Open the bleeder slightly, just enough for the fluid to come out. (only slightly so air doesn't get into the caliper past the thread)
Take the brake fluid cap off and ensure it's topped up throughout so you don't pull more air into the system
Pump the pedal repeatedly, slowly
When the fluid in the tube has no bubbles in it, close the bleeder and move the soap dispenser to the next tube/wheel
By using 4 tubes you can then go around all the wheels again quickly without having to play with your nipples again. :nods:

No more moaning assistant saying that their leg aches pressing the pedal for you or pints owed to any mates. From now on, bleeding brakes will only take 5 minutes for me to do.

I amaze even myself sometimes. Hopefully this helps somebody out. :)

My new car to be.

Can't wait to get my hands on it now. But it probably won't be for a couple of weeks until after my trackday. I'd love to take this one on the trackday but it's got new brakes and tyres so I don't want to track a car where the brakes and tyres haven't bedded in as that would be quite expensive to fix...

Why am I replacing my MG TF with another MG TF? This blue one is the VVC model so it's more powerful and gives me an extra 500RPM to play with. It has 304mm disks up front with AP Racing 4-pot calipers (over my current 240mm disks with single pot sliding calipers) to go with the extra power. Bigger and nicer looking alloys (brand new) and a brand new roof with glass rear screen. Leather seats that aren't collapsed like my current drivers seat is.

It's also had a lot of work done to it such as new front wishbones, track rod ends, anti-roll bar and bushes along with new stainless bolts for everything so working on it in the future will be a doddle. Sure, it has 20k more miles on it than my silver one but it looks like it's been well looked after and as long as I keep on top of maintenance I shouldn't have any issues. The K series engine has been known to do more than double this mileage with no major issues.

It's a much nice colour. My current one still puts a smile on my face almost every time I drive it, even after 2.5 years.

I could upgrade my current car to this standard but it would still be silver and would end up costing more.

To do list:
Front splitter. This does actually help keep the car stable at speed as the front end is very light
Adjustable Spax shocks/maybe lowering springs (depends on the clearance between the splitter and local speed bumps)
Modified seat base/springs to make it lower
Engine remap. More power, more torque, better sound and much better drivability. Was the best thing I did to my silver one.
Black tail lights
Might paint the exhaust and other chrome bits black too. Along with making calipers blue rather than red.
Maybe subtle black stripes. Seen them on quite a few TFs and they look quite nice if done properly.
Heated windscreen
Slimline subs for both seats so I can hear/feel the music over the engine on motorways
Daytime running LED sidelights. Don't want anyone pulling out in front of me!
May be tempted to get a spoiler on it from the trophy version of the F. Still not sure on this though

So "Something new" actually has 2 meanings this time...

It's a new car to me & it's an actual new car.
Bet you wernt expecting that.

So, she's an Abarth 595, the 'basic' Abarth with 140hp and has the optional 17" wheels. Managed to get a fantastic deal on finance thanks to it being a pre-reg car and also ex-demo car, so had 350 miles on the clock. On a 4 year deal so expect to see alot on her over that time.
Thoughts so far? The hanging is perfect and the engine is punchy, with the size being perfect for zipping about the place in the same style as the Cappo. The sound is fantastic both inside & out, honestly would't think it's the factory exhaust or it's a 1.4! Downside? The ride is very harsh, would be fine if it was't for the state of the UK's roads.

Can't wait for it to be fully run in and taker her for a good run! :D

After a history spanning 68 years, tracing it's root's back to THE Land Rover. The Land Rover Defender has officially been pensioned off.

The Defender it's self is only 33 years old (technically 26, as was called just the 90 or 110 before that) but it's root's are firmly based back with the car that is now called the Series 1. That car, and the cars that followed have became the stuff of legend thanks to it's off road capabilities it gained a reputation as an go-anywhere car being used from farmers to explorers and of course the army.

Over time, the cars has become an icon and fashion accessory in the same way the Mercedes G-Wagon, with prices for modified ones of late being absolutely crazy! (And in most cases, pointless for off-road!). but don't worry, alot are still used for there primary purpose of going off road. Be it on the farm, forrest trails, mud pugging or rally raid events.

The final car, a 90 soft-top Heritage edition with the number plate 'H166 HUE" (tribute to the original 'HUE H166') completing a run of the REAL Land Rovers at a total of 2,016,933.

Been a big fan of his work for years! Oddly what got me into him was't his music, but the TV Show called "Life On Mar's" (Followed by "Ashes to Ash's") and from there. It's all weird & wounderfull and the fact he's always been relevant is what makes him him! Been a great ride and gave me some great memory's and music.

I really do like the Maybach's, but some of the early cars dated quickly inside thanks to using that oh-so-90's dark grey colour the interior with wood finish giving them a tacky feel (Kinda like the Lexus LS & SC430'sif spec'd wrong). Other than that though, perfect in my eyes...sadly they'll never reach my price bracket, but it'd tempt me away from an LS if they were.

Got to love the Brooklands, many would call it the last of the proper Bentley's (tracing it's root's back to before VW ownership & all) but is a true beauty to behold if you see one! Used to be one local to Aberdeen and always put a smile on my face. A true land yacht! :)

Oh yes, it's a oh-so-90's period Ferrari modified by them loony's in Germany, Koenig! Personally I love how mad this is, the targa top, bright yellow & that bodykit, topped off with the F40-esk spoiler! But it's not all show, packing twin tubo's poping out a crazy 520bhp from the 3.8 V8 so she'll fair shift! Yours for just shy of £100,000.
