Picked it up on Sunday after some poor man who obviously wasn't expecting to sell his car so quickly put it up for sale Sunday morning before shortly receiving five phone calls from people including my dad asking about the car and if they could go and see it. By 3PM on Sunday the deal was done and we were making the 108 mile trip back home. Some bloke from Ireland apparently wanted to buy it and was prepared to fly over to England to get it. I hope he didn't get past the airport in Ireland.

Enough of the story telling.

1999 Peugeot 306 2.0 HDI 'D Turbo'.

Gizmos/Extras:

Moonstone Silver/Blue metallic paint

Power Steering

ABS

Remote Central Locking

Rain Sensitive Auto Wipers

Air Conditioning (Automatic)

Steering wheel audio controls

JVC Radio/CD Player with iPod Connection

Fog lights

Electric and heated wing mirrors

Electric windows

Driver, passenger and side airbags

15 inch Cyclone alloy wheels

...and probably some other things I've forgotten to mention. It's done a few miles, 113100 to be exact. It isn't really alot for a diesel, especially when the car comes with one of the most complete service history's my dad has ever seen. It's a little rough around the edges as you might be able to tell from the pictures but nothing a bit of work at home can't sort out. It also has floor mats with pink bits in them, I was going to change them for the plain black mats in the Golf but the Golf ones don't fit properly, who looks at their feet when driving anyway.

Some photos I took about 45 minutes ago, needs a clean, it's always been dark when I've seen it so far - besides at the previous owners house...

Easy to drive, comfortable, pulls like a train once you're moving (diesel lump slows it down off the line), handles well.

The one and only French car I think I'll ever like, and I like it alot.

End of long and probably pointless description.

*Awaits flaming of sorts*

Nice i saw some of the others u were looking at and this looks the best so far. It has aged well but a bit of tidying up and it will look good :)

Will be good times when we all pass our test just going out driving etc.

Jammy much :p

Already said this like 28 times in real life but congrats, nice-looking car, can't wait to see it with that phat bodykit you're getting.

Yeah will be an epic kit tbh..

Then i will be so jealous cuz i don't have that on the corsa ;)

Cheers all. She's a beaut, lol.

I'll be keeping it standard though, I like the wheels, standard body kit is nice but not over the top. Might buy an OEM 306 half leather interior even though the current one is in very good condition and basically the same, just missing leather.

Just need to keep the dodgy 306 electrics in good working order.

Four cars parked around the house now. Sometimes five when my sisters boyfriend parks his Discovery outside. Golf will be my sisters car soon, insurance for me on the MiTo runs out in the next month. Stupidly expensive to insure me on the Fabia so it was time for me to get a car, lol. I'll need my own car soon anyway.

Might as well start a car sales business outside our house :p

Car update, y0!

Holy thread revival, Batman!

Well, when I first got the car I wasn't 100% happy with the way it looked. I'm still not but I'm gradually getting all the parts I need to bring it back to tip top condition. I want it to be as original as it was when it left the factory.

After having the car a few weeks I noticed the passenger side door looked out of line with the rest of the car compared to the drivers door. I then looked on the inside of the door to find a crease in it which was infact bending the top half of the door outwards, this was due to an attempted break-in before I bought it. It didn't cause any problems, no water ingress or anything, just slightly more difficult than it should be to close. I also noticed that the pillars on both doors were the same colour as the car as opposed to black which everyone elses 306 seems to have unless they have a darker colour car. The drivers door also had rust along the bottom of it.

So I decided if I could find some new doors cheap enough I'd get them and replace the current doors.

I found some on some Peugeot 306 forums last week in the right colour and decent condition besides the passenger door which had seen the nasty side of a bus. The car they were on was being broken down for spares anyway. Only problem was that the doors were in St. Austell in Cornwall. Guess where I was yesterday.

Doesn't look that bad in the picture and neither did it look like it had been hit by a bus in person.

I've been working on them today to prep them for being on the car. Gave them both a quick wash then attacked the dent the Pikey way by using a hammer and some T-Cut. End result:

There's still a small dent in it, but it just looks like a super-market trolley dent.

Also applied some Tar Remover:

..Then some wax and this was the end result:

Also applied some 'Back to Black'. I took some pictures but it didn't make too much difference. Notice how the pink floor mats now know their place.

Just missing a D Turbo badge on the passenger door, now.

Not bad for £40 and three quarters of a tanks of diesel, cheers Fabia VRS :p

Also went over to Plymouth after, good day out. Probably the only reason my dad was willing to go, because it was sunny and he got to see some boats. Hurrr durrr.

Other little updates since I last posted pictures of it...

Chavvy Momo gear knob and tatty gaitor out, OEM one's in:

Obviously, pink floor mats out, boring black work-horse mats in:

Door handle surrounds (Originals were missing):

Fuse box cover (Doesn't fit properly, being French interior trim it's predictable. Can't complain for 99p off eBay, though.):

/End boring pointless post that nobody will read properly or at all.

Thanks.

The easiest part is over now. I've got the hardest part left to do - Switching the locks and hoping the electric windows work in both doors. If not then it's going to be a pain in the arse taking the doors apart and swapping the motors, arms and everything else over from the doors currently fitted on the car.

I'll also have to buy more door card clips off eBay because they always seem to break when taking the door cards off. Atleast I don't have to worry about taking the bump strips off the side of the doors currently on the car and applying new clips to those because the ones on the new doors look like they're held on pretty well and are flush with the doors.

Do this then new wheels or refurbishing my current ones myself. I don't know how the last owner managed to curb/scratch/peel the paint on them so much but it's bugging the hell out of me.

Should be ready to roll for Summer then, just in time for when I finish college and hopefully pass my practical driving test. Had my first lesson since last September this weekend and was told I only need a couple of lessons to be at test standard, but then a few more lessons/weeks after that because of the waiting list to take the test.

Wow that door looks really good. Big differnce! are going to get factor rims or aftermarket?

It'll definitely be standard 306 D Turbo Cyclone alloy wheels like I have now if I buy a new set. Currently the cheapest option is refurbishing them, either myself or by sending the wheels away for a week. Personally I don't trust myself to do a decent job of refurbishing them and I don't want to ruin some wheels which are worth atleast a few hundred pounds when in good condition so I'll have to start working out some prices.

Well, somehow I managed to win an auction on eBay on Tuesday evening for a set of new wheels which are in much better condition than the ones I have now and for a bargain price as well, especially as they come with a set of tyres which all have 5mm of tread left on them. Strangely no-one else bid on them with a minute to go at with the price of £100. So I put one bid in with 20 seconds left and tomorrow I'll be driving across to Leighton Buzzard to collect them.

Just to give you an idea of what I've had to put up with looking at on my car so far. I took these photos today...

God knows what the previous owner did to them but they are some of the worst condition alloys I've seen. They're clean as well, no dirt on them whatsoever.

I'll hopefully update the thread when I've got the new wheels on the car, if I find the time to put them on the car before college next week.

New wheels. Haven't had time to put them on the car or clean them properly besides a bucket of water and a sponge and they've now got a coat of dust on them from being sat in my garage. Alot better than my old ones anyway. Three nearly new tyres and one which needs replacing. Some of the lines you may be able to see, such as the few underneathe the Peugeot badge in the middle in the first picture are just pieces of dead grass.
