280,000 JPY?

That's like less than £2,000...

I'M MOVING TO JAPAN!

Nice first car man :) Welcome to the jap car club :)

Thanks :D

280,000 yen was the auction starting price. Ended up getting it for 833,000 yen FOB. Pretty damn close to my budget of 850,000 yen

That's still short of £6,000! How much is it costing to import?

15.8k AUD, so I'm guessing around £10,000 pounds

So when are you moving? Don't forget you can actually insure cars for much less than their value here as well. And probably have a lot less speed cameras here too.

If you're bored try getting a quote from http://www.RACV.com.au and compare the prices to back home

Need an Aussie address :hmmm:

Google Maps

Just did another quote for my car the same as when I applied 2.5 years ago and it's more expensive now... (slightly more than my first year, but the price has dropped about $200 for me since then).

RACV are way too expensive, they quoted 6k for the Supra and they don't even cover mods. Google Just Car Insurance then when they ask for a postcode just enter 3178

Okay. A Pug 306 2.0 Diesel.

(AUS) Just Car Insurance: $3,000 AUD or £2,000 GBP

(UK) Zenith Insurance: £5,735 GBP or $8,720 AUD

(UK) FluxDirect: £11,767 GBP or $17,900 AUD

Welcome to our world.

Meh, at least you won't have to pay ridicculous taxes in everything car-related. Insurance for my A3 was almost 1000€/year iirc (and it's going down from that so it's nothing compared to your insurances) but the tax amounts I'll be paying are just stupid. Also, gas costs basically the same as in UK (about 1.7€/2.14 AUD), diesel is basically the same (used to be a lot cheaper than gas some years ago) but you have to pay an additional diesel vehicle tax. Genius.

But that's not all. The most ridicculous thing is the price of the cars themselves. I think you could basically get an 8L S3 in good condition, for example in UK, for the price I paid for my A3 here T_T

In a few of the Arab states, its something like 18p a litre. Also Insurance is worked out at 4% of the cars value no matter your age...

Suddenly a job working in the oil industry there seems even more appealing...

Bought this...

Team MG's BTCC jacket. needed a new outdoor jacket for the rally's and such. :nods:

Really good quality and warm, which I'd expect for something that normally cost's £110! (got for £65 new).

AEM V2 long arm cold air intake :D When fitted will look something like this.

Oh and I got some new aero wipers :cheeky: Because the country has temporarily turned white and my old wipers were terrible, with all the salt and dirt and crap on the roads this amplified the terrible-ness of the old blades
