Targa doesn't "qualify" as a convertible and old cars are in other league E-Type, Corvette...

Probably not but targa cars are really nice especially when you can just shove the roof in the trunk :D

Nothing wrong with french cars, the Clio's are the most reliable cars I've owned! (somehow!). I just dont like the way that the Mk2 Megan CC looks...but we all like different things!

Well we own a Clio Campus 1.2 8V there wasnt any problems with it so far but its really low mileage its a 2008 model my dad bought it with around 24.000 kms on odometer now it has maybe 35.000kms, but i generally dont like it its poorly made, and for 2008 car it only has power windows, and no air conditioning.

About the reliability i heard some of the engines blew around 150.000kms mark i think those were the 1.5Dci although i cant tell if its truth or not, and french cars are just pain in arse to work on if you ask me.

You'd consider a 458 or 12C spyder? :eyebrow:

Well, I like both of them. With the roof on they look like the normal version ;)

Exactly! Reminds me of Fast and Furious one, that scene when they just pull the roof off to save Dom's friend jaja

Targa & T-Tops come under a diffident level I'd say, as on the whole they look like the coupe and often don't suffer from the loss of having bits of the roof cut out.

My first one was a 2001 1.2 8V (Mk2 Phase 2). For a car of the age it was well built and at 80k on the clock it got me 10k more miles on with no problems. :) My second one is a 1999 Mk2 Phase 1 of the same engine. Base spec...No power steering,ABS, Rev counter or anything like that and has unpainted bumpers plus the inside is made of mostly hard plastics  Only 64k miles though and runs like new. The build quality on the Phase 2 is leaps and bounds better than the Ph1.

But I've said many a time here, what I says good quality and others say is leaps & bounds differences due to the fact I've always grown up with old cars(10 years old+).

But lets keep this on topic! :nods:

Well ours is 2008 im not sure if its phase IV or V but the interior is terrible everything is made from plastic its screeching when u touch it also the trim on b pillar is loose its rattling on every bump its just ridiculous. I feel you on the older cars before clio we had opell kadett E it was so much better i loved that car shame it didnt last till i got my driving license

And on targas yes theyre different but i dont think many people can feel chassis rigidity loss in convertible unless you are a race driver

Everyone can feel the lack of body stiffness, it is most evident in everyday driving - on uneven road surfaces.

I'm with Robik94 here. I had the pleasure (dis-pleasure?) of driving a Mk5/6 Ford Escort hatch & convertible in the space of a week up at a friends last year and gave them both a good thrashing both on & off road (both were field cars, but still taxed & Mot'd), And have to say it was only when you were giving it 8 - 10/10ths you would feel the drop top was't quite up to it.
