saw this on Autoblog ... looks like a nasty accident ... good to read that the Stunt driver wasn't seriously injured ... might not have been a standard spec car then as a lot of film work is done with HEAVILY modified cars

For example the Z08 BMW was actually a Cobra kit car (or something like that) with panels on it to make it look like the Z08 (which hadn't started production) ... the Vanquish in "Die another Day" would have been a let down to lots of people as they had to swap the engine on some of the cars to fit the rockets and stuff in ... so I think it ended up having a Mustang engine ... Oh and Bonds Mondeo hire car as far as I'm aware was a late level prototype ... if you noticed Casino Royale had lots of 'Ford Group' (well what was Ford Group as it no longer includes Aston, Jag or Landie) cars in various scenes.

But you still can't beat the Esprit in terms of Bond cars

Bad guys got a Range Rover, an XJR, and Defenders. Bond got a Mondeo and DBS.

Just reading an article on top gear that makes a whole lot of sense about this "accident"

There are two ways of looking at the Aston Martin V8 Vantage N400. It could be a properly sorted, road-legal version of the N24 racer, which hitherto could be registered with the DVLA only by adding a handbrake, a horn and some numberplates. I have extensive experience of driving that car on real roads and would respectfully suggest that you'd be off your ruddy rocker to even consider it.

I prefer to think of the N400 as one of the growing number of sharpened-up, weight-pared special editions of existing supercars, in the mould of the Ferrari F430 Scuderia, the Lambo Gallardo Superleggera and the 911 GT3 RS; a road car with race pretensions, rather than the other way around.

The engine, for example, is the uprated N24's, with 400bhp instead of the regular 380, while torque is up to 310lb ft. The springing and damping at both ends are considerably stiffer, there are bigger anti-roll bars and special ultralight wheels.

Although Aston has resisted the fashion for stupid stickers down the flanks, the N400 is rightly available in three special colours: Lightning Silver, Bergwerk Black, and this one, Karussell Orange, which suits the V8's soft shape perfectly, even if it can look alarmingly close to the brown end of the spectrum in certain light.

And it is, of course, more expensive at £94,000. But then, under the bonnet, and in amongst all the German writing, is a plaque proclaiming it to have been hand-built in England. Its papers are also in order, so you will know which of the limited run of 240 you have.

It was still under the Iosis or whatever it was called concepts name at the time wasnt it?

It was good to see the DB5 Made an appearance in Casino royale anyway

Yep, it wasn't a Mondy, it was an Iosis. Very nice car that was, i just wish they actually released it for sale.

firstly why is carmad quoting Top Gears review of the V8 Vantage Race Special when the crash was a DBS? Completely different cars!

also looks like the driving sequences in Quantum might be a bit tough ... scratch one Alfa 159 by the sound of it

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7365726.stm

As to why a 159 ... there's pics on an Alfa forum of filming ... oh and ...

you've got to love toy companies ... anyone remember the DBS being leaked early because Corgi showed their model of the Bond car at a Toy Fair before it got launched or Casino was shown at the cinema ?
