List of Approved Image hosts.

    A fair few other sites out there have a list of image hosts that are allowed to be used. I would like to put this forward for here.

     

    My reason for this is recently while browsing the mod shop I have noticed a lot of images being hosted on sites full of spam, pop ups and god knows what else. A few of the hosts being used are also using those stupid traffic holders, where by you have to click an image about four times before it takes you to the page you want rather than some page of adverts. You can of course right click and copy image URL then remove the offending section but this is tedious. I'm not going to point out any one thread as an example as there are multiple "offenders" and I wouldn't want to make an example of any one of them.

     

    I am mainly referring to (but not exclusively) the Russian image hosts as they seem to be some of the worst for this kind of thing. I noticed recently in a thread that others too said they were un-trusting of certain links posted.

     

    Sites like Tinypic, Imageshack, Photobucket etc are all decent clean sites without any pay per click nonsense or OTT advertising.

     

    Anyway, I'll shut up now.

      I've noticed it aswell, many times. I agree with tWm that the Russian sites seem to be the worst. I think that a list like this would be a good idea, but to be very honest, I think that Mods would be very busy removing links and pointing people to the approved sites as I don't know how many would actually read it. (Or be bothered to change, as some sites (like Photobucket) requires registration) Just my two cents. ;)

        not an image host but also approved file hosters? there are other russian file hosters with porn banners as well and if we do have file host limits, i'd like to suggest 3

        Filefront - Very good, popular, no wait

        Mediafire - Very good, not as popular as Filefront, no wait

        Rapidshare - Average - Wait before download, popular

        I don't mind so much if it is only available in German, after all I'm only looking at the images not reading the text around them. Provided the site doesn't have any of what was mentioned earlier I don't mind it being used.

          First and second one are good but can you direclty host images on Rapidshare, I mean can you directly view the image from there or do you have to download it first?

           

          I don't mind so much if it is only available in German, after all I'm only looking at the images not reading the text around them. Provided the site doesn't have any of what was mentioned earlier I don't mind it being used.

            read again, i said FILE host, not IMAGE host, you know to host the mod files instead of images for the mod, too many of the foreign modders(not naming any) post their mods on sites which are only avaliable in russian or other foreign languages which most forum users dont understand but i know that Mediafire, Rapidshare and Filefront have language choices
