This mod pack is all-inclusive and contains the Ferrari 248 F1 model, sound & physics. The mod pack contains Grin116's excellent Ferrari 248 F1 model and I have based my sound file on TDU_Enzo's great Ferrari F1 sound mod. Thanks to both of these modders for the permission to include their work in this mod pack!

The vehicle model has been included in it's original, unmodified form, but I have combined sounds from TDU_Enzo's sound mod and other sound files sourced from the Internet as well as performing extensive pitch tuning in order to match the Ferrari 248 F1's real-life sound as closely as possible.

The physics on this vehicle were quite a challenge and have taken me many hours to perfect, but I'm very pleased with the final product. I have modeled the physics as closely to the real 248 F1 specs and attributes that I have been able to find on the Internet (not an easy task!) and the end result is, I think, very close to the straight line as well as the handling performance of the real thing. I decided to create 2 physics setups; 'Race Spec' and 'Maximum Performance'. The Race Spec setup is fully compliant with the 2006 racing season rules and tries to mimic the real-world performance of a race-ready 2006 Ferrari 248 F1 as closely as possible. The Maximum Performance setup is based on the Race Spec setup but is lighter (the 2006 F1 rules dictate that cars may be no lighter than 600kg, the car is actually 450kg without any ballast), and the aerodynamics have been setup for a higher top speed. Also, due to the peculiarities of the TDU engine, I have increased the braking power slightly on the Max Performance setup so that it feels more in line with general expected TDU braking performance.

For reference, here are the respective specs and performance figures for each setup:

Real World Race Spec:

Weight: 600

0-100 km/h: 1.7 sec

0-300 km/h: 8.6 sec

300-0 km/h: 3.5 sec

Top Speed: 330 km/h

TDU Race Spec:

Weight: 600

0-100 km/h: 1.7 sec

0-300 km/h: 7.75 sec

300-0 km/h: 3.5 sec

Top Speed: 323 km/h

TDU Maximum Performance:

Weight: 450

0-100 km/h: 1.55 sec

0-300 km/h: 5.5 sec

300-0 km/h: 2.5 sec

Top Speed: 408 km/h

Notes:

- In the real world, the Ferrari 248 F1 redlines at 18,000 RPM, however, due to the limitations of the modifications I can make to the TDU engine, I have had to halve the redline RPM to 9000. I have setup the audio so that the vehicle sounds like it's revving to 18,000, but the rev counter will top out at 9000.

- The handling in my physics setups is designed to mimic the real world as closely as possible. With this in mind, there are a number of characteristics which become apparent when driving this vehicle:

1) The faster you go, the more downforce & therefore grip you have. This means that under 100km/h, while the handling of the vehicle is good, it is nowhere near as good as it is at 200+km/h. Of course, even an F1 car has it's limits, so while the handling of the 248 F1 is the best (realistically) you're going to get in TDU, you won't be able to take every corner at 400km/h :D

2) Due to the reliance on downforce for grip and the relatively hard suspension, large bumps in the road can cause the vehicle to loose grip quite severely and it's not unusual to completely loose control and spin out because of a single bump. This means that some roads in Oahu are not very fun to drive on with the 248 F1, however, the majority are fine.

3) This vehicle has a heap of power! Even with traction control on, you will find that it is relatively easy to get a power induced slide going in 4th gear at 200km/h! I recommend using at least Hypersport traction control when driving this vehicle!

Overall, it takes some skill to get the most performance out of the 248 F1. Obtaining the rated 0-100 km/h time takes quite a bit of patience and practice; I have only achieved the rated time twice! However, this vehicle is pretty fun to drive; it's a real buzz to have to exercise lightning fast reactions while dodging traffic and cornering at 400 km/h and still be in full control! :D

I hope you enjoy driving the 248 F1 as much as I do :) Let me know what you think of it!

This means that, for whatever reason, the patch installer doesn't think that you've installed it. Are you running the same version of the patch installer that you used to install it? If so, you could try re-installing and then uninstalling again, but I can't guarantee this will work. Failing this you may have to re-install TDU unless you want to get familiar with hacking the resource files...
