This news is flashing up all over twitter and the Universe News Network (might be a lie) but it looks like Ubisoft have filed for the abandonment of the Watch Dogs trademark at the USPTO.

 

 

It can't be cancelled can it? Or could it be that it's joining the Assassin's Creed universe? Personally I hope it's neither of these and wonder why they've done this considering the hype-train that was rolling along.

 

Also could be that they want WATCH_DOGS, that underscore is real important!

I doubt it'd be canceled, all that hard work and hype all down the drain? Even if there was legal issues or something, I'd imagine they wouldn't back down so easily. I'd imagine it's either nothing worth worrying about, or something business-y. :confused:

this was by far the best idea in gaming since TDU (hell yeah! :lol:) and a perfect substitute/complement for GTA. the whole idea behind a high-tech robber, with outstanding graphics, made me smile. too bad it seems like they can't notice the best seller it would be

Did you see the massive backlash King.com got for trademarking 'common words' such as Candy and Saga? Could just be in response to that.
