Yea, there were driver changes. Someone in our race thoug did the full 12 hours on their own.

Before the race you have to register as a team. In my case, I registered the team then my friends joined. During the race, when the car has stopped in the pits, the drivers can press a button and change over. The game keeps track of it all.

Oh that's a cool feature indeed! I wonder if pCARS has something similar, because you can run several hour online races

Its dark and wet, yes it is NFS most likely...

Nice pics! Btw, did you ever had a black screenshot when using the ingame photomode? Because pCARS seems to take some screenshots and other just come out as a black screen (like using print screen)
