I have to agree, i can't remember how long i played TDU1 for, great game....I cant stand TDU2 for more than five minuites, its just so crap compared to the first. It's like they've concentrated on the stupid, superficial things like furnising your house and not on the important things like driving dynamics, physics and SOUNDS (OMG they are horrible).

They took a great game and made it worse.....no idea how that happens...FAIL for sure, ill go bak to TDU1, till mods are possible....majorly dissapointed:(

That is a mute point, what diffefference does it make if it was released today?? after how many years of development since the first game was released, and its bad cause its the first day??? Cmon!

I know all games have teething issues, not a problem. But to release a game with this much wrong with it.....to be fair, they're robbing us blind if people don't realise how awful this game really is compared to the first which is what, 5 years old....

I must say I totally agree; if driving physics are as bad as people say they are, Eden have completely missed the point. Sure, the game is as much about the lifestyle as the driving experience, and I've got no problem with that whatsoever. But if the driving experience is compromised, Eden has effectively failed with half of the game.

Not happy, Jan.

@Ten, I can't say I completely agree with you there. While TDU physics weren't great, they weren't really that bad, either - the cars still had bite in their handling, and cornering was a good balance of sim and arcade. TDU2's developers have been talking for a while now about how they've built the driving physics from scratch for the new game so that they'll be better than the previous one. So, I suppose there is an element of expectation there, but it isn't expectation based on Gran Turismo or any other games. It is expectation which was built up by Eden/Atari staff themselves, who effectively promised a better, more realistic handling model on multiple occasions. We, as players, therefore should expect the developers to deliver on their promises. It's no doubt, then, that people are unhappy with the unrealistic, arcade, feel-lacking handling that has been delivered to us.

I do hasten to add, however, that I haven't played the actual game yet, and all this is based on what I've seen in gameplay videos and heard from journos and other players who've got the game already.

well said red, Like i and many others on this forum have mentioned..its not a problem that the pyhsics are not as great as other sims, but the actual fact that this game has taken a step backwards from the total driving immersion experienced in tdu 1, in terms of physics, sounds(even though still bad) etc. It was hyped up to be a more involving game with better physics, and from initial impresssions of playing the game.....its not that great to put it nicely..

personally, i just spent the past 9 1/2- 10 hours in game and LOVED every single minute of it.

the only quibbles i found were the Alfa Brena has a strange habit of requiring 4 shifts to get from first to second when floored, but knowing that i just adapted to it.

now if i could just figure out which file acts as the Save Game so i can back up my progress so far.

oh, and i want my darn casino to work already. (PC)

I don't wanna spoil anything, but its not until you take those license tests in Oahu that you feel that your money could be better spend on Juiced 2 and Urine Vials!:D

I enjoyed Ibiza, the graphics there are kind of nice and you can almost make peace with the annoying frame rate, and the fact that your opponents can have different physics (Tess Wintory can pull a jump at 220kmp\h and land perfectly by an oncoming bus!) but when you get to Hawaii.... Oh My God! Its all so bad, the game looks like those amateur PC racing games but with bad physics.

Even in the social aspect, is that even anything? You have an initial sequence with a bunch of wax carved guys in a pool party at 18:15h with no drinks, not talking to anyone, just dancing like maniacs! I can't stop laughing at those sequences, the main character just says "I couldn't have done it without you, Thank You Marco!" with a voice that seems like he is suffering from diarrhea and the other characters... C'mon the Wilder brothers and that Miami Harris and Tess Wintory? My God, that storyline seems to have been written for 5 year olds! And then when I get to the driving I can't even drive because in turns you get a mix of 15th century physics and horrible frame rate that makes is impossible to drive and to enjoy driving.

In TDU1 I didn't enjoy races, what I really liked was cruising, and I can't even enjoy that in TDU2 because of the frame rate and the fact that you get the same sense of speed from driving at 100kmp\h and 270kmp\h. The worst thing is that whenever you change a gear, it makes you wanna puke, I don't know if it is the clutches or smth. I just know I wish I didn't buy this game.

The even worst thing is that this is not personal complaining, this is something that everyone can see for himself when playing the game. I would like to talk with those guys from the developer diaries and ask if they ever even drove those ferraris and aston martins behind them, if they ever even drove a car! Because it seems that the thing they nailed better was related to Furnishing and Fashion, not driving!

You are right, Ibiza is great and the first hours are nice...I can say that now, because when I was playing those first races I thought I was disappointed, now I am in Oahu and I can say those are the better hours of gameplay.!

WARNING: Don't race the A1 Competition in Oahu, for your health and your console or PC's well being.

I'd like to know where they got the idea from that an Aston Martin V12 completely loses traction in every single turn you take. Plus the last time I checked a Ferrari California with dual-clutch doesn't drop from 8000 revs to 2000 when changing 1st to 2nd.

I already thought you said you loved this game but it doesn't seem so. You have said about the sounds for like 10 gazillionbillionmillionthousand times. We have got the image, so stop whining about it. You never say anything new, you always keep complaining about the same things over and over and over and over again. And then in the next post you are like "yeeaaa this game is awesome I'm sorry I was complaining". 10 minutes later you're whining again. Jesus.

UFA O'TDU2: United Force Against the Official TDU2 Forum

Elder Of Lyons:

"I have had the previlege of playing Test Drive Unlimited 2 and behold the ambition and boldness of a company that swore to change the racing genre forever. Its not everyday that we see a company the size of EDEN, embark in such a great journey against the tyranny and close mindedness of bigger companies, whose objective is only to profit and keep the same formula over and over again. Per contra, Test Drive is the antithesis of the modern modus operandi of making videogames solely for the consequent harvest of receipts. Thus I can assert that money spent on Test Drive Unlimited 2 is indeed money well bestowed. Henceforth, every fan as well as every videogamer will be able to rejoice in the enormous world that EDEN has built for our delight. So, shall I not epitomize greatness any further, for greatness is what this game will bequeath!

Thank you very much EDEN/ATARI for defying the boundaries of the racinggenre and providing us with a masterpiece of freedom and joy, that will surely be everlastingly remembered by a loyal legion of fans."

Well, my friends this is the kind of feedback you are all expected to give in the official TDU2 forums, anything else will be a reason to ban you permanently.

My personal bet is that by the end of the month, the Official TDU2 forum will be composed by 4 or 5 moderators talking to themselves.

Official TDU2 Forum WARNING: Whoever posts feedback that doesn't say the game is absolutely perfect and that the game devs are gods from the Lyon Pantheon are to be shot in the nearest race track.

@Elder_of_Lyons, may I ask what your PC specs are? I remember I always got a bad frame rate on my old PC with TDU1, and thought the driving physics were simply awful. But when I upgraded to my current PC, the physics suddenly improved along with the frame rate. That might be an explanation for the soggy cornering...

Lol. It is the same people.

Honestly, if you dislike the game that much that you have to keep incessantly posting your negativity towards the game on these forums why don't you just sell it on and get back most of your money?

It's beyond rediculous now. It's seriously making me wonder if people are just trolling for a response. I allow constructive criticism but this is beyond that now (infact it wasn't ever constructive), it's just childish whining.

Go cry somewhere else please.

I play the game on the PS3. The frame rate is never great but when it comes to cornering... its bad enough with normal cars, but with cars like the Mustang and the Golf GTI that inexplicably lose traction in every single corner its almost impossible.

Also I don't know why, but cars like the Aston Martin V12 that should have very good grip just do the same thing.

Its kind of bizarre but you will enjoy the game better when driving classic cars on the asphalt or SUV's on dirt then the Super Sports cars. They have no feel to them, its just all plain and unattractive. You get the same feeling from accelerating a Lancia Delta to 60mph and a Pagani Zonda. Its really messed up!:-x

If you don't like what I say why do you keep reading my threads and posting? You know that this thread is about complaining why do you still read it?

This is just a normal response from people who buyed the game and now are stuck with something that is arguably worst than the first TDU.

Childish whining is complaining about why the game doesn't have tow trucks and 10 islands. I wonder what you think is constructive criticism? Do you think that complaining about the fact that Oahu is horrible compared to Ibiza, that the game has a completely unstable frame rate, synthesised engine sounds, poor sound effects, no sense of speed, childish storyline, disappointing car list, terrible physics, crashes and save game bugs, lack of options, steering wheel compatibility problems, is not constructive?

Do you think that a game that is released 5 years later then the first one and still can be compared to it and be worse in some points is not a reason? Is it also not a reason that this game is completely behind pretty much every modern racing game in engine sounds, physics, graphics and sense of speed?

This game completely "lends itself" to criticism! What were they expecting?... that they could just throw this game to the shelves and that no one would notice that this game is flawed to the last bit? This game delivers a worst experience then the first one in almost every aspect, so the least I can do is write about this failure. If people don't like it, create a thread talking about how great the game is or ban me permanently like in the official forums.

I buy the game, save money for all DLCs, spend time writing about what I like and dislike and still people talk to me like this? You should be complaining about those who rent the game for a week and then never buy the actual game and its DLCs, or those who come here talk about the game and never even buy it. I spent my money, I will spend my money further on every single DLC that comes around so I can make sure that at least from me, they have all the support to keep making new TDUs, I think that gives me the right to write some complains, in a forum, in a thread that no one is even forced to read or comment on!

Guys, get back on topic.

It's gone on to long now.

Elder: You obviously have your opinions of the game. We have been made aware of them now, thank you.

Everyone else: Stop ganging up on Elder, he's entitled to his opinion just as much as I am.

I don't think anyones ganging up on anyone, i think people are getting

frustrated with the endless threads created by various people with

the same old complaints, elder and the other guys have made some very

valid points, but they need to be contained in a single thread imo.

My opinion is basically wait and see. on TDU1's launch many regarded the physics as horrible too. we just got used to it. Personally to me, the arcade physics on TDU are repulsive, and besides the odd run of the speed challenge for some money i never even ventured back to arcade after hardcore came out. you just get used to awful physics to the point they don't bother you, prime examples would be saints row and just cause

from the TDUCk playtest (still don't have the game) all I can say I wanted were:

  • ability to skip cutscenes, rather than just trying to cram terrible dialogue down our throats
  • tweaked physics, akin to proper hardcore mode
  • ability to turn off your phone/story progression, like you can do in GTA IV

besides the physics, these suggestions would be really, really simple to do I imagine. and when eden released hardcore mode, they proved they are more than capable of making big changes like handling too.

I've not bought the game yet, so, the game is pretty lame.

Psh! Who disagree will die. D:

I disagree. I think it's a great game, sure it has its flaws, maybe more than its fare share but it's still a great game and some of those more major flaws will hopefully be fixed sooner or later just like some of the flaws with TDU1.
