Time for me to buy some of those cars, me thinks.

I bought the yacht and got the Atom V8 (which I'm not really interested in) yesterday after I finally willed myself into doing the last Hawaii Championship. Need some cars to put in me boat now.

Edit:

Oh. My. God. I could listen to the sound of the Shelby Mustang GT500 endlessly and never get bored of it.

This game is just a big rip off

How come we are not allowed to paint some of the downloadable cars?........I find it very weird that we can't paint the GT 500 and the audi rs 5 when these car's are not exclusive's at all meaning you can get that car in many colors from the factory. I find that just wrong and boring that every one has to drive around with the same colored cars. This game is starting to really lose it's touch i mean come on really.

These are the only cars that are actually exclusives!

Aston martin DBS carbon black edition.

Aston Martin v12 vantage carbon black edition.

Ferrari 599 GTB china edition.

Bugatti veyron GP Sang Bleu.

Bugatti veyron centenaire.

Bugatti super sport.

Camaro synergy special edition.

pagani zonda tricolore.

You can choose the paint colour for the standard Veyron when you purchase it

I can understand why DLC versions of cars already in the game might have a fancy paint job, but brand new cars definately should be customizable if the real-world counterparts are.

That must have been that way since release, I also had it. But seriously, would it matter? They don't have a functional EMP or anything like that as far as I know so they can't kill the game I think. It's kind of fun even. You could have it as police escort.

It's just how the licensing works, unfortunately. Within a licensing strategy, you have to allocate your costs effectively to get the most value inside your budget.

For example, it costs more to add customization for a licensed car. This is because it allows the car to be represented differently than the manufacturer might like it to be displayed.

From the car company's perspective, there is less advertising potential if the car looks different than it does in commercials, and even less advertising potential if it looks ugly (i.e. if people choose ugly paint colors/sticker schemes). Due to that, the companies tend to charge more if players can modify the appearance of the car.

The same goes for vehicle damage - obviously the car companies want their cars to look slick and shiny, not beat up with the fender falling off. So adding this option costs more as well.

Overall, the goal for us is to give our players the maximum amount of cars, with the maximum amount of customization, that we can fit into the budget for car licensing.

It's kind of strange they charge more for giving players the option to paint those cars in factory colors... the same ones they provide IRL (another advertising opportunity for the producers!) but hey, no one said licensing needs to make sense...

Thank you very much for the clarification atari_destra. I have been wondering how the car licensing works.

In this case I believe it doesn't apply if you want to change the color to another factory-spec option.

I remember reading an article ages ago about a PS2 (don't remember which one) game that had vehicle damage. A manufacturer (I believe was Honda) at the time, didn't want their cars portrayed as cars that just fall apart and whatnot..
