I wanted to take some fireworks photos today but I have rather little experience in night photography. Any advices bout exposure, ISO etc?

Easy :) Make aperture like F28 and ISO 100, then the shutter speed should be like 10-20 secondes enough to catch some fireworks

If you only want to get one or 2 fireworks, put ISO to 100 and aperture to F8 or lower

Also my first time i want to get some pics, this is how i will try it.

Hope i didnt say something wrong :lol:

I'm gonna try tonight with ISO 100, aperture at f8-f16 and in bulb mode make the shutter speed a few seconds (from the moment the firework is about to explode to the moment its gone. I'm gonna have to improvise though as I don't have a tripod  and at least at the moment it's pretty cloudy.

Woop, found a very old videocamera tripod and after some tweaking it became a perfect temporary tripod for my camera :D too bad it just doesnt have almost any ways to adjust the tilting and angle etc. but atleast my pics wont probably be so shaky!

E: Happy new year everyone! :D A bit shakey but hey, after all it was the first time ever that I photographed rockets!

Realised I probably should have put this in What you saw recently. Anyway... :P

Also, what's a good panning speed? And it should be in Shutter priority mode, yes?

Yes, in "s-mode", and I usually use 1/8 I think ;)

1/8 is stupidly slow for panning it would be really hard to get a sharp shot at that, You'll want faster than that.

This is 1/25 but the car wasn't moving fast at all.

Where as this is shot at 1/125 because it was going much faster.

Normally at a race track you'll want to use higher speeds as the cars will be going much faster than on the street. Oh at it takes a bit of practice/luck to get right :p

Finally I was able to cut the trailer video of my snowdrifting-christmas-day =) I know that this is the photothread, but I promise that I will post photos of that too.

But for the meanwhile here's the trailer-video:

Edit: Don't know how to post the video, so you can watch it here...?
