I'm going to get this little baby:

iPod nano 16GB - (PRODUCT) RED™ Special Edition

ipodnano_red_image2_20080909.jpg

Should I get the [AppleCare Protection Plan for iPod nano or iPod shuffle - 2 Years] for £25.00 or get the 3 year [3 Year High Risk Replacement Product Cover £140 to £149.99] for £34.99

I would get the 3 year cover, however really want the rediness....

However, if I get it from Argos, I can't get the red colour, which is the best and also gives £10 to Africa (from Appl'es profit) or something.

Go for the apple deal, 10 quid to africa, and you get your Red ipod :) (plus its cheaper anyway)

Cheaper in terms of? Insurance cover? (remember I am getting 2/3s of the time span, and it's more likely to break in the 3rd year than the second. I might email Apple and see if I would be able to extend the cover after 2 years has elapsed.

Im guessing in 2 years, 2 new nanos will have been released anyway :cheeky: And im guessing you will have 1 and want the other ;)

I got my iPod Classic 80GB from the Apple Store for £10 less than any other shop I went into on that day, and I went into quite a few.

I'd prefer to buy an Apple product from the Apple shop any day, especially if the product is the same price or less.

As for iPod Protection. Mine is a hard leather case which I got from HMV for £10. I've already dropped my iPod, luckilly it was in the case and no damage was sustained at all.

Don't buy an iPod, they are for noobs.

You know what, thats exactly what I thought, before I bought one. Then I realised why they are so popular. Nothing comes close to their usability.

Hooray, I still have the best iPod here

The touch is indeed excellent, but it has lost quite a lot of its coolness. I have a white 30GB 5G, and that still looks awesome (and also is not horribly slow like the new Classics). When my mate first got his Touch, we were all 'WOW THATS AWESOME', then 4 others got it, and now I really don't see the point, other than a bigger screen for videos, which at only 16GB (I assume thats the one you have) - you can't get that many on there.

Don't bother with the insurance. By time it breaks the latest & greatest new Ipod will be out & you'll want that. Me i'm happy with my 4th gen monochrome display Ipod. Idon't need to carry my porn around with me & i prefer to watch my movies on a big screen not in teeny-weeny eye strain-O-vision.

lol :cheeky:

I have to say that the screen of my ipod video (see picture first post) is big enough for movies. I have watched the hole season 6 from family guy on it and some movies. But i really hate it that i have to convert it to .mp4

all this talk about iPods reminds me how terrible they are...

and that nano, fair enough giving a tenner to Africa, but i don't get these huge companies saying they'll give a tenner to 3rd world places, what's a tenner ACTUALLY gonna do in the long run?

i can understand giving maybe 50% of the product away to charity, then they actually look like they're not selling a gimmic to make more money off it anyway...

but go for the best cover, the fact they're prone to breaking would make me wanna get the more expensive cover out...

Don't Justin have a touch aswell? :p

Ya, but his is OLD :p

Just because you have the touch ? I really hate touchscreens, clickwheel ftw.

Sarcasm, dear ;)

In short - Applications. I rarely watch videos, hence the fact I only have the 8GB :o

2G Jailbreak will come! And I will wait *sits*

Thanks everyone who tried to stay on topic :)

Nodz, I can ask, but I'm not sure how ours works.

Buy it from John Lewis and get a 3 year warranty for less than apple care. That is if they do it for iPods, they do for the Macbooks.
3 year cover is £35, but again, they don't do the red one. Thanks for the option to look though! I think I will probably just go for the Red one, with the 2 year cover. At the end of the 2 year, I might just drop it and send it off, so it lasts a bit longer

QFT! 8gb is plenty enough for me. I still got 3gb left and have tons of applications installed. XD

Not sure if this helps for you, but you can get a refurbed 3rd gen 8Gb on apple store...

for £72

and it comes with 1 year protection.

Anyway, I'm with the 'iPods are an overrated monopoly' lot, and will be buying an iRiver L-Player later this year. 8Gb, £80, critically acclaimed, every format under the sun (yay, lossless audio :D)

Good review if you pretend the word doddle doesnt exist D:
