It's like that in HK as well. 115% tax for everything over 3 litres or something.

 

When you buy cars from abroad and import them are they still subject to the 115% tax? A lot of ex UK cars end up in Hong Kong.

Whoops, my bad, the 115% is for the first registration of the car, and it's based off the car's price before tax. Anything over 300k HKD is taxed 100%, 500k HKD taxed 115%. The engine size thing relates to the annual fee thing you have to pay. That's why in some of my pics you see cars with those weird hanging T-Plates, means they don't have to/haven't paid the 115% LOL

Pretty sure you still have to pay the 115% if you want a proper license plate on it. I've heard it's cheaper overall, although I'd assume it wouldn't be by much.
