  1. Atari never dies. Some relatively unheard of publisher will just rebrand themselves to invoke nostalgia like infogrames did. (See: how many companies have called themselves 'commodore' Hopefully the license for test drive goes to someone competent.
  2. Looks like its all blown up ;D Who knows, with Atari US selling pretty much all of its IPs, including test drive, this could even end up actually called Test Drive Unlimited
  3. Another video: The formula rookie is a fun little car, hilariously slidey at speed, but fun on the whole. Looks like a canoe and handles like one too, imo it needs downforce but i'm sure that a wing would rob the already poor top speed performance
  4. Formula Rookie in today's build is an utter git. So hard to drive at the very limit. Been lapping it on Suzuka, it doesn't know if it wants to oversteer, understeer, face the wrong direction or just disobay in general. I also don't believe that it is impossible for it to wheelspin off the line. It bogs down on launch, even if you have the pedal floored
  5. I know my driving isn't up to par with you guys, but I uploaded this yesterday if you guys were interested:
  6. Oh christ, I don't do much with pcars.... errrr... Leonus P68 on Spa :3
  7. I want to want this game, it looks so good, it's just a bloody shame that I find Ferrari to be a little dull :p
  8. And I thought that overtaking the H1 on fuji kaido was the hardest thing any human could suffer. Step aside for the white van man! This pack looks hillariously good! Is there any word on a season pass 2? or are these individual from now on?
  9. It lives! I kinda imagine TDU being Windows XP, and TDU 3 being Windows 7. TDU2 is the Vista of teh franchise :P Ambitious but fundimentally crap
  10. TDU2 should just be buried, it's universally unloved, they should take what they did well in TDU2 and leave it alone. The houses, the furnature, the casino, the animations and graphics in general. Every single resource should be dedicated to Improving what the fans complained about (servers, handling, everything wheel related, offroad dynamics) and removing what they didn't need. (badly implemented story, license challenges)
  11. tactical use of the word close, glad to see that the first thing Atari did with their new thesaurus was look up alternatives to 'soon'
  12. Happy brthday TDUc! Can't believe I've been here since day 1, and yet i'm still able to function :p
  13. Sorry about being a no-show yesterday, my housemates got a box set of friends for christmas and are hogging the TV, will be in subsequent races
  14. I am interested in this. I don't usually touch the R-classes but it'll make a nice change. My most enjoyable overpowered car is a Mazda Familia (Up in A class) and it's pretty fun. I think with slicks and race aero it'll be a real competitor and i'll be able to managably extract another hundred brake out of it.
  15. I tried to join but talktalk internet has a nasty tendancy of being arse, tied with a netgear router (also arse) and a potentially moderate NAT (it changes) it just wasn't happening
  16. I suppose that's more what i'm getting at. My RS1800 is 74 points under the threshold, yet I always win, it'd be nice if the game could just see that and stop telling me it's a POS :p. Also it'd be nice if there was more than jst 3 options for each event, i'd like to see every race possible, not just the R2 races it thinks I should be doing at my stage in the career
  17. Does anyone else get completely sick of this message? Like, really irate about it? I'm so tired of the game not suggesting events unless my car is within 3 points of the class boundary, and then telling me that the car i switch to once I select the event couldn't possibly win without upgrading it. I know that you do customising, it's just I prefer the way a car handles as it is. Every time it makes suggestions, every time I refuse them, and every time I win, by at least a 10 second margin. I can't actually get any E class events to show up without chosing my E275 Saab 99. So much for T10's talk of 'never having to stop using your favourite car' eh? Is there anyone else who races for both the challenge and the fun of driving the car? Who doesn't need the game nannying them into making a perfect racing machine just so you can race with it?
  18. This pack is immense. For a start the 'scort. WHAT A CAR. I do not want to upgrade it, not even a little. It's a loon, you have to thrash it, take it miles into the redline, let the tail end get a bit free on the exit of corners. It's imprecise, unsophisticated and purely mechanical feeling, it's slow to get anything over 80mph and the body roll makes keeping that momentum a challenge. For some this may not be your thing but I love it, infact I love it so much I did a race with my trusty stock one (E201) representing Ford UK Vs The Ford Falcon XB (~D290) for Ford Aus Vs the Ford Mustang Mach 1 (~D310) around the nordshlieffe, and despite the 300bhp power disadvantage against the mustang, managed to win. (Check my storefront for the replay if you wish) Like 'vette I was cynical about the SX4... until I did the monthly rivals challenge of the kaido hillclimb. Holy balls, I see now, the way you take corners in it is head altering. It'd be nice if there was a track a bit wider to use it on as you have to be painstakingly precise to not bin it on the narrow pass, but it is possible. The 'rocco is fun, for FWD (Which IMO is dull as sin xD) The stock alfa is a tiny bit uninspiring IMO, but I have plans to do something fun with it. Maybe driftage
  19. You know what, i'm up for this, GT is Crazed Dodgem, will be in either my rally saab 99, rally escort RS1800 or my vulgar bright green prelude :p
  20. DAO-12 with frag shells. Man that thing is hours of fun. Can't help but wish there was a commander like in BF2 and 2142 though, as it seems like squads just don't coordinate themselves. It's hard enough to get your squad together as it is, getting squads to effectively work together makes you much stronger, and getting those squads efficiently deployed on the field leads to dominance of the game.
  21. It feels a lot more connected to me, more fun, the sounds are amazing, from tickover, to redline, in anything from a fox (if you want a laugh, do the 1 mile drag in one of the starter cars, untuned they wont even reach 100!) to a flame spitting lambo. The rubbish cars are actually great fun on some of the more challenging circuits ( sub100hp cars vs fuji kaido for lols). the handling is better and the improved racer count is great (protip: always try and tune your PI one under the class border, everyone will almost certainly plow into the first corner and crash, hang behind and pass when everyone else is bunched up)
  22. The PC is the only way for me, I was a massive fan of BF2 and 2142 so the next 'proper' BF game HAS to be done on the PC, not to mention 64 player online...
  23. The annoying thing is that the Poker, Houses, Photo Challenges etc. work perfectly and they've received a lot of polish... The core mechanic feels like it was thrown together in 2 weeks. It's not good enough atari D: I agree with the 'connected' stuff duck said. Whenever I arranged my garages in TDU1 I would never use the swapping mechanic teh garages had, I would take one car, and drive it to the other garage. Sometimes I'd drive road speeds listening to sweet radio, other times i'd go like a bat out of hell. Either way was fun because you felt so connected to the car and the road that it *felt* like driving. It didn't have to be the most realistic thing ever, it just had to feel believable, and it did. I liked the way cars like the charger cornered like an aircraft carrier and rolled so much it looked like it'd roll over. It's a shame the handling is so pants because some roads are amazing. You get great views, great roads, great cars and sometimes great sounds... then you turn and realise you might as well be on the M6 because the road has no affect on the car.
  24. I put a simple poll out on the TDUc page, asking 'are you happy with the handling?'. 6/7ths of the participants said no. Still, typical business sense for atari to go for the easy option, even if they're segregating the vast majority of the fanbase
