Well I had a heated debate with a few people over on the TDU2 forum about if pick up trucks will be included in the game. I said it didn't really fit in with the whole theme of TDU but they still didn't get it... So what do you guys think?

I've seen people talking about these and honestly apart from maybe the Aussie Ute's and some special editions like the Ram SRT, SVT Lightning and 1 other I can't remember I think they would be a waste of a good vehicle spot.

To be honest I would prefer Quads and Dirtbikes over those things, skitting about offroad on a dirtbike would be good fun, especially if you could fall off.

I totally not agree with musclecars fitting in just as good/bad as hatchbacks. Musclecars are totally incomparable. They have huge engines with huge output, and they are iconic cars. Those are the cars many dream of and many admire. A Daewoo/Chevrolet Matiz, Opel Kadett or Ford Ka are totally incomparable to such powercars.

You also have to be carefull with degrading all SUV's. You have to make a difference between the Suzuki Vitara/Grand Vitara and Renault Kaleos in one corner, and an ML63 AMG or X5M in the other corner. The image and marketposition is important, so you can't just say none of all SUV's will fit in a game. Some will because they are expensive, luxury, powerfull and very expensive. If it's none of that, the only reason left to include it in a game like TDU2 would be its iconic status.

I rather not see stuff like quads in though, that has less to do with High Life than hatchbacks like an A3, for which Eden might say it's a premium hatchback of a premium brand and that's why it would be in. Quads also require their very own physics and handling which is completely different from cars and bikes, partially do to the fact you have to shift your entire body sideways to be able to steer in any way. The fact they already put in bikes as DLC as they wanted to focus on cars first makes me think we won't have to expect quads in the game, maybe as DLC, but there should be enough interest in it.

The part I just typed about the SUV's applies to the pickup's for exactly the reasons I typed. Some pickups would be nice, but not down to the smallest, cheapest or least equipped barebone car, especially as it has nothing to do with the atmosphere TDU2 will try to breath out towards players.

Quads and that are the high life, you know how many people have their own grounds just to run around in these things?

And some pickups are ok as long as they are icons, but standard everyday contractor and construction related models seem stupid as the high life means people work for you not you work for them. My brothers a painter and deals with plenty of these people and most of them turn up in either a Porsche Cayenne, BMW X5, ML63 AMG or a Range Rover.

The key word is icons, people with money like to buy real toys and most of the pickups seen posted are just 'meh'.

You think that matters for Eden?

Quads have nothing prestigous like sportscars and high-performance bikes have, and that's what I just said, vehicles for games are often chosen for what they tell you by their looks, looking at how well it fits the overall atmosphere of the game. When you think of the high life people, you think of owners of big houses with swimmingpools, yatches, and very expensive exotic cars. Not of dirty little vehicles like quads, there's nothing exotic about them.

If there's a reason they'll include quads, it's either thanks to huge numbers of rental quads being used in real on Ibiza, or because too many people want it, but not because they fit perfectly to the high life image.

The thing i will say now it`s from my point of view.So as O`ahu is in Hawaii, the international capital of Surfing so is Ibiza in Europe. And what i mean is that pickups would fit nicely.Sexy girls dancing on the flatbed with nice music, a surfing board on the back huh?So that`s why i think pickups are gonna fit nicely in game.

I tend to use a RR Phantom to travle around my estate!:cheeky:

But on a searious note, Pick up's are a kind of grey aera me thinks! Some will love them, some wont! If the genral SUV idea for the game is more 'bling' then off road(Audi Q7) then i dont think pick-up's will be in it!

But for the road it's love to see the Holden Maloo or the 1970 Chevy El Camino in the game....but one can dream!

I think it's a fabulous idea, i'd love to see the pick-ups. I just wish everybody would stop yapping about the stupid high life theme.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see pickups aswell, but Atari said the whole theme was "high life" so I just can't see THEM putting pickups in their game.

They were in the concept art hence why I mentioned them.

Pickups, hmm. I'm not really too bothered about it, however, if they are in the game then I'd only want 2 or 3 maximum so that other, perhaps better cars can be included in the game.

But I will happily take whatever they give to me...

a few of the mentioned vehicles, like the Ram SRT-10 and the Saleen truck would be interesting. i know when it came out, the SRT-10 was capable of hitting 165 mph, without having Hennesy messing with it. so it could be sort of a sleeper vehicle.

as for Quads and the sort, dirt bikes definitely belong. if they are smart they will incorporate some of the better Enduro bikes that do so well on and off road. but Quads.....while fun, i would rather see some of the "new" side by sides http://www.polarisindustries.com/en-us/ATV-RANGER/2010/Side-By-Side-Vehicles/RANGER-RZR-4/Pages/videos.aspx they would even work perfectly with Diablo's PassengerCam.

I don't really get the high life argument for not including cars. I know many extremely well off people who still drive around in crap. Most comparable would be my neigbour behind me who has a fleet of extremely expensive Holdens/HSVs and Fords/FPVs and a MiG fighter jet. Drives around in a Corolla and one of my close friends has a small collection of car porn, but drives a Daihatsu Terios for his daily work.

Rich people are allowed to buy pick up trucks too....and hatchbacks, and muscle cars. You would tire of endlessly driving around in Ferrari's and Bugatti's and Koenigsegg's and crave a hatchback in which your back won't hurt when you go over a bump or your eyes squeezed out when you tap the accelerator.
