Bored with TDU2 already. Why?

Seen a few people mentioning this and was wondering if there is a common denominator into why this is. So if you are genuinely bored with TDU2 already then post why and also what you feel is missing, needs added or done to bring the glory days of TDU back for you in TDU2. Maybe it's simply a matter of just more of the same, who knows but please share your thoughts and of course do it constructively.

Thanks.

Main Reasons

  • The physics and handling (the roads & environment are great but they feel letdown by the handling)
  • There is a severe lack of events and things to do compared to TDU. OR it feels like it anyway, very repetitive story doesn't help.
  • Lack of a sense of speed. Doing 200mph through traffic doesn't feel as exciting as TDU did. Possibly just the removal of the motion blur (adjustable please if brought back)
  • Feeling that the focus was put mainly on the avatars & customisation (not the cars) rather than the core driving aspect.
  • Fairly difficult to acquire money after you complete the Championships & such.
  • Cops are suicidal and there isn't really much of a chase element felt with the mode itself. (could be amazing with improvements)
  • Cheaters in the CRC

The sense of driving doesn't seem as enthusiating as the original TDU. TDU1 was all about having fun, whereas I feel that TDU2 is all about fearing for dear life should you lose grip.

I personally think, with a major physics overhaul to equal that of TDU1, many many more people would be playing TDU2 for years to come.

I hate to sound like I'm twisting this opportunity to say what I've always been saying, but the problem really is the physics. Everything is the same, no matter what car, what speed, and what road. Whether I'm driving a Lotus Esprit or a Ginetta, the driving feels exactly the same. There's no "oh, will this car drift?" running through my mind, no "how fast can this car go on this highway?" TDU2 is missing the difference in cars and their response to terrain, something TDU1 did perfectly. The RUF RTurbo in the first game, for example, was a joy to overtake with; you would hear the turbo spool, feel the car lunge ahead from 60 to 100 in seconds, and then you'd be miles ahead of the car. But then when you got to Kelekole, it would understeer slightly, snapping the tail out if you applied power. This wasn't a problem, though, because the RUF RK Spyder, another car by the same company, could handle these turns with more grace than almost anything.

But in TDU2, the most interesting part I've found is having to wait for other players to go through the one-lane areas of the narrow city/fort roads. Even those, though, are hard to enjoy without the ability to spin your wheels at 100 mph through the cobblestone streets if your attention slips.

The graphics are brilliant, and the setting depth is wonderful, but the moment I step out of my cool treehouse and into some car - regardless of make - I just feel... uninvolved. Nothing makes me want to explore the vehicle's limits, the feeling of power (or lack thereof), or the wheel sliding through my hands as I drift around a perfectly-placed roundabout. There's none of that, no sense of difference. Everything is drive-turn-drive.

And that's why TDU2 is boring. :(

I seem to be bored with the game too recently I don't know why, its just something you play for a week and its all nice and exciting and then suddenly gets boring again :/

I mean offroad sucks so I don't do that, most of my friends (and I have roughly about 40 on there) are offline so I get like 2-3 people per time :/ Very weird... And Hawaii is boring too as its been there for ages, so Ibiza is only choice for me.

Its lacking cars too for some reason everybody online seems to use the usual 5-6 cars : veyrons (any type really) , zondas, CCXR , WRX and a few more. I have probably seen 1 Spyker that wasn't mine online, and most likely 1 RUF RGT or something. TVRs = 0 :/ Pretty much Physics made this game bad..

I installed TDU 1 last night and its just brought a smile to my face, and what also did was the amounts of people suddenly got on it again. So I think I "might" move back to it. Its a high chance that most people would unless eden fixes up the current game.

I did the same thing, installed all the mods back again as well. It just offers you 80% of the fun without the ridiculous physics.

I'm not bored with the game yet, BUT this is really an issue:

* Fairly difficult to acquire money after you complete the Championships & such.

I'm not going to do that damn race 100 times just to get 1 million credits so i can buy a house, i have better things to do in life. The challenges only give you 3/5k each and those are boring and way to easy, so after 3 i quit and just randomly drive about.

I don't have the casino, and haven't planned on getting it yet, and i'm stuck with 300k and no space for cars as everything is full. They should just make more "cups" so we can win some big money. :p

The physics is the first big let down. The off road experience is a huge disappointment. Remember those first artist conceptions? TDU1 was an adventure. TDU2 added weather, night, slightly improved graphics and another island. What happened to all the things you could discover to make money. Like car delivery, smuggling, etc. While it's still fun to take a drive. It's lost most of it's charm and adventure. You can't just drive around and discover opportunities or challenges to make money. The arcade physics being the biggest limitation. Unfinished stuff like, poor clutch support, no trackIR support, maybe some one should make a list of all the deleted features?

Handling is bad, its to slow(like in NFS Shift)... also TDU2 is missing Z06 and Crysler 300 two of favorite cars from TDU1 time!

Theres also no real off-road cars, like H1 or that old range rover. what? Volkswagen touareg is a off-road car? please... its like BMW X5, you go off-road in one of those and you need a tractor to put it where it belongs..on the road!

Also that thing with racing schools are just wrong... i can win all races but i can't pass driving school test because of that slow reacting handling...

Also cop system is just rubbish... cops always spam in front of me.. how interesting is that? and if you go off-road you're busted automatically...

this game isnt boring, its worse.. TDU1 was far more better! i'm paying it right now and its great!

theres many many things wrong with TDU2.. i just don't have that much time to write them down here.

I get bored of driving in this game after about 5 or 10 minutes now.

The lack of ways to acquire money to drive different cars is a main point for me. I don't want to spend all my money on 2 or 3 of the most expensive cars to be left with no money at all for when DLC comes out if there is a car I really like. The Casino is boring to make money unless you're actually on it talking to someone else.

Not being able to connect to friends properly also makes it boring for me because it means I can't join people properly. Most of the time I'm driving in my own server even though I'm online.

The handling, meh. I can deal with that but it gets boring quickly with the ways the car handle.

And now all I have left to do in game are races in championships that I have completed already. They aren't exactly fun races either.

I think the main problem for me is money and cheaters. It takes too much time to grind money out of races. CRC is a failure, as nearly half of the list is cheating and the challenges that are made fair have cheaters racing on them.

Police chases are useless imo. You are either racing some kid on a veyron that always set his chase on a highway, or some cheater that decides to ruin the game by driving off-road without being busted by using a trainer.

All that is left for me is cruising now.

Nice one guys, keep them coming. Remember this isn't a vent or shout thread, this is mainly for those of you who feel TDU2 is lacking and why you feel that compared to the original TDU. Also talking about cars that are missing is a moot point as that's just a personal complaint rather than an actual observation of change which is what I'm after here.

The first TDU was the first one so it was fun, it was new, and in my opinion it was far better then the second. TDU2 lacks life, the roads are deserted, the characters look awfull and the voice acting is creepy. It kind of seems Ibiza and Oahu were deserted and are now occupied by advanced robots or something:eek:.

The main reason why I am so bored at the game is definitely the sense of speed and physics, it seems I am always driving the same car and there is no sense of speed, it always seems I am driving at the same speed, its so boring.

Its sad to say that the sense of speed and physics of TDU1 were actually more fun and realistic. Man, there is ABSOLUTELY no feel to the acceleration, I mean this is basic! You accelerate in an Enzo or a Zonda, you except to hear some roar, see some visual effects to match the sensation you get in reality... man you get nothing! Its just always the same, the in-car animations are stiff and robotic, the cockpits have less detail then in TDU1, the sense of speed is worse... In TDU1 the car shaked, there was a lot of blur and you could feel acceleration. TDU2 is so boring and bland! TDU2 is boring and I blame the physics, sense of speed, engine sounds and lack of life and atmosphere!

I think yahtzee summed it up perfectly when he did a review of minecraft

When you have to work for something it makes you value it all the more, with TDU2 after you did the championships with huge bonuses you could buy almost everything you wanted. everything you got after was just 'wouldn't it be nice to have a xxxxx' and the thing is, to get those little extras you have to grind the same low paying races over and over again, all of which pay the same money. Racing the coast of Ibiza/Hawaii should be worth a million each given it's an hour's worth of racing, even without the championship bonus.

Edit: an yeah, there's no reward for driving fast. In teh right cars 120mph felt like a real achievement in the first because you were darting around traffic at the limit of adhesion. this time around 120mph feels like 70mph, overtaking is just as routine as it would be on a bypass

I'm joining the bored club. My reasons are probably like most other players': the physics are worse than TDU1's, the graphics are nothing special (on the PS3 at least), and everything just feels so pointless once you've completed the championships... Not even the photomode prolongs the game's life, seeing as it's less complex than TDU1's and feels like a last minute addition. Not only that, but you can't get the photos out of the console and show them off on internet forums, which kind of defeats its purpose for me. Sure, you can view them in MyTDULife, but for some reason I couldn't view the profiles of any people I've met online. They just keep on loading. Oh, and while I'm on the subject of online play, the servers are way too unstable for a multiplayer-oriented game. So far, I've managed to join a race session only once - most of the times, it tells me that the session "isn't available anymore".

In conclusion, it seems like much more attention has been paid to dress-ups and tooth whitening than actual driving. I remember voting 8 in the "Rate TDU2 out of 10" thread. Now, after a couple weeks of playing, I'd give it a 6. For me, it's back to Hot Pursuit for now: a game with farly superior graphics, driving physics, online play and an overall better gaming experience.

Basically everything said already, haven't played it for well over a week now, turned it on yesterday and turned it off after 5 minutes. Not having a dig here and know it's not their fault, but the lack of my favourite cars is probably another main reason I got bored so quick.

Never heard anyone say that NFS HP's handling was good to be honest. Connection issues and such aren't noted because the patch is "meant" to fix that so I'm concentrating on what is losing people from the actual game even if the servers worked perfectly.

I've recently become bored of TDU2, for a number of reasons.

-Reliability.

Won't dwell on this, enough has been said before. Corruptions, errors, game crashes etc have all contributed to making it a less pleasant experience.

-Events.

There is no variety at all, once you've done one championship you may as well have done them all, the single player is not engaging in the least.

Earning money (legitimately) is too time consuming and tedious, it feels reminiscent of the XP grinding found in RPG games, and element of gaming I detest. Put simply, there is not a reward that is high enough to keep people thinking it is worth their time.

-Multiplayer.

Seems unfair to judge it given that a good 50% of it doesn't work, that said we shouldn't be in a situation where this is the case.

The community feels.. dull, people just don't seem interested in talking to one another, this though I cannot blame entirely on the game, Xbox Party chat has a fair bit to do with that. Gift and a curse.

-Exploration/Originality

I'm bored of driving around. Ibiza is great and I enjoy it but it is really quite small, Oahu on the other hand is huge but.. I've been playing TDU there for years now and despite the revamp it's really not different enough to make it fun all over again. I appreciate many people are over joyed to see Oahu return and that is fine, I personally would have rather seen another island.

-Damage

Hate it in freeride. It is so annoying, if there was a way to repair it without entering an event or returning to your house fair enough, but there isn't.

A lot of this may seem like trivial crap but I played the hell out of TDU, TDU2 is less than a month old and my motivation to play it has basically dried up. Making it to level 70 doesn't even bother me.

As all said, Physics is TDU2's fail with this stupid storyline which is bad and boring.

I just want to add some other things : Club vs Club !

We cannot find by ourself our own friends rivals or choose the track, and when the game is created, we can't change circuit, laps, car class...

And also why don't we can create our own custom track and play it online with friends, as we can do for TDU1 with Djey's Trackpack (with some new game as "find the checkpoint" without navy).

Why "keep your distance" is not a long freeride mode?

Why handbrake on grass at 150km/h don't make me turn over at 180°?

I can affirm that this game is created by people that did not played TDU1 as we did, some of them probably never drove in their life, some have great talent for video games, but they don't like racing game, and maybe a last part wich have better to stop drugs. I feel very sad for those who has work for this game with their heart and never deserve that.

I get so much pleasure in boring on TDU1... the worst thing to say for a game.

But there is one positive thing :

Crappy physics make us forget that we lost Lambos as a little bit detail.

Most of the bugs could be fixed in playing their game only one time.

Wich game editor will be trust in MMO driving open road after this epic fail?

What about speed? i mean if you're going off-road in a (as example) buggati max speed is (can't remember 100%) is about ~95km/h theres no difference in speed if you going down hill, speed will stay the same.

Same if you going with lancia delta(or any other car) at top speed and you're going downhill speed will remain the same....(asphalt)

Also if you're going lets just say 200mph and get a little bit off road car slows down like i was hard on the brakes... its just crazy... if you're going at 200mph and go off-road (on a grass) braking distance should increase much much more and not slow you down..!

PHYSICS aka No gas = Car brakes hard, downhill-straight = speed is the same, handling from car to car = the same, DRIFTING = ÜBER FAKE, Steering wheel = Impossible to drive, and so on... + everything the others mentioned before.

And btw. About half a year ago I was talking to my friend and he was sure that NFS HP will be the best racing game evah and so was me for TDU2! As NFS HP came out I really enjoyed it and I was pretty sure that if NFS can be that good (Arcade handling as expected) then TDU2 would kick it's ass to mars and back! I expected handling at least as good as TDU1 and better graphics and MORE cars. Then it came out. I tried it and I was reeaaly dissapointed about it. But anyway I played it. I got used to it and it was the best racing game evah created untill I tried TDU1 for fun. It took some getting used to but since then I didn't switch on TDU2 ever again.

Adding to the post I wrote earlier:

-Frame rate is really annoying me, specially when playing online, so I mostly play offline.

-Be it online or offline I hate to see that the cars in front of you are just crazed with popping, like full parts disappeear and appear again (PS3).

-No rise in wind sounds when you open the windows./ Car Indicators don't work in cockpit view./ Poor cockpit view details (missing electronic indicators in the Enzo/Touareg/Q7/etc.)/ Lack of windshield wipers./ Complete lack of emotion when overtaking a car./ Incomplete sound effects (you can hear a loud sound from wind distortion when going by a STOP sign, but you hear nothing when going by an oncoming bus at 100mph.

-Poor Radio songs/ Inability to add songs.

I mean, some of these aren't that important, in fact you can call some of them completely superfluous, but these little things make me not want to play so much.

Cruising around online/offline is the highlight of this game, no one can deny it, and having a nice sense of speed, nice songs, lots of details in the cockpit (windshield wipers/indicators/better in-car animations etc.. really helps people to stick with the game and play it for a lot of years.

Again TDU1 was completely new and unique, so people expected enough improvements to keep them cruising for the following 4 or 5 years. They are not here yet, but hopefully EDEN will listen to the community and maybe with some patches and DLCs, next year or so we can have a much more solid experience and I am waiting and hoping for that!

Elder no offence but you say the same thing all the time. This is not a thread about what is wrong with the game it is about what is stopping you from enjoying it compared to TDU. That game had it's fair share of issues also but people played it heavily regardless and that is what I am looking to find out.

Once the connectivity and all that is complete we'll also start to collect the issues and such that you and others have mentioned.

Physics partially. As Leadfoot said, all cars seem to feel the same, with very little diffrentiation, other than speed, really. They're not that bad, but I think they could be improved, I loved driving along those great roads on Oahu in TDU1, but I feel as if it's lacking a little in TDU2, to be as fun and as enjoyable. Other things include, as others said, lack of events to win decent money after doing most championships, more driving missions at a time would be nice to.

The main reason why I'm bored currently is because, for some reason, it won't let me complete the Ibiza Championship, which I want to get over and done with. :(

Counter-steer, or lack of.

My only problem with the game. Not fussed about other problems or even the handeling as such just sort the countersteer so i can drift or correct a bad turn without crashing into the nearest tree
