I'll go for a re-cap of the week.

Started off by being tailgated by some pleb in a van on the way to work. I was doing a consistent 60MPH in a 60MPH limit, but that wasn't enough for him. A few miles from home and I came to a nice long straight where he could have over-taken me with no traffic in the opposite direction so I eased off a bit to make it easier for him. Better to have an idiot in-front rather than behind. Instead of over-taking he just sat there getting closer to the rear of my car as I eased off, then we reach the bottom of the straight with a blind right-hander at the end, about 200 yards from the corner this idiot decides to over-take me after I've accelerated back to 60MPH again. Pleb's crappy little van has no power and before I know it we're at the corner and the front of his van is still only just nudging in-front of my car so I ease off again to aid him in getting past, at this point I see an articulated lorry coming in the other direction and ease off some more bracing myself ready to witness an idiot die in-front of me.

Pleb then forces his way back on my side of the road showering the front of my car with stones and crap out of the middle of the road, forcing me to the edge of the road and he somehow gets away with it with a second to spare. All that effort and dangerous driving and I let him fly off into the distance, 15 miles later and I've caught up to him again at a set of lights on a dual carriageway, pull along side him and give him the sternest look I can gather while calling him a charming name using an expletive. I don't usually condone conflict like that, but he well and truly deserved it. Later that day I discovered a couple of the stones he threw up had actually left chips in my windscreen, but luckily they've not manifested into anything bigger. One good reason to get a dash-cam.

Away from the roads. At work they decided to bring in a new person to help out on the phones over the Summer as it's ridiculously busy in the Summer months. New person started Monday, all seemed well, they were picking up the job quite quickly, thought nothing more of it. Wednesday arrives and the new person gets called into the manager's office along with another superior. Person emerges 20 minutes later, says nothing so we think nothing of it, maybe they just wanted to know how they were getting on. Nope, 15 minutes later, my supervisor comes upstairs and says "I'm sorry, but you're losing ______ already, they've just got another job taking over from _____". Oh great, not even there a week and they've changed jobs and left me and my colleagues in the lurch again with the busy period less than a couple of weeks away. No consideration for us again.

Also got an older bloke at work under investigation as people have only just started realising he pretty much does nothing all day every day, and that he keeps palming work off onto me and my colleagues. He pretty much sits at his desk all day pretending to look busy by typing random things into the database occasionally, then he wanders off outside for a cigarette for 10 minutes every hour. So I can see us losing another member of staff soon as he won't buck his ideas up, he'll just leave.

tl;dr: Van driver was a bit like some items in the back of his van, a tool. Work is just screwed.

:hmmm: Where to start?

Fit a rev counter to my car and accidentally earthed it via my hand. Made my whole arm, chest and face feel funny.

Found out how bad the rust is in my car. Can see the road through a small hole in the floor, poked a chisel through the bulkhead into the inner wing area. The flitch panel has a hole in it on one side and isn't much better on the other side.

And then someone tried forcing me off the road into a railing in the middle of the road. Before that the driver was messing around on his phone showing off to his friends whilst veering into the other side of the road and nearly crashing head on into a taxi. He then did it again and almost went through a red light in probably the busiest crossing in the town. Then on the dual carriageway bit further down the road he got next to me, hurled abuse at me and made pleasant hand gestures whilst forcing his way into my lane almost pushing me into a big metal railing separating both sides of the road.

And to top all of that off there was a police car driving slowly coming the other way watching him trying to make me crash! And guess what, the police car just carried on driving. I saw the cop driving and he was looking at us. He could've easily turned around about 5 seconds further down the road but no, he didn't. Police are disgraceful and I have no respect for them at all anymore. The idiot could've killed several people in the space of a minute and gets away with it.. Unless I see him again, because he owes me some of his teeth.

A girl I met online a long time ago has always had some problems with her back. The doctors have never really known what's wrong with her. Today she told me that they had diagnosed a rare disease on her back and it's going to be lethal. They told her that she's gonna live another 10-15 years max but it's unlikely. Now she has to live the rest of her life knowing that the disease could kill her any day..now I have to cherish every time I'm talking with her, knowing that it could be the last time :(

Wow, I know how being around someone with a certain time to live can be. I'm sorry to hear that Santtu.

Eventually, you know, she won't be in pain and she won't have to worry. And until that time, she should cherish life and I'm sure she will.

Death is not the end, I'm not going all religious on you here, but sometimes death is better than life.

Not trying to sound rude here, but i think she has enough people around her to cherish and feel pity of her. You should threat and talk to her like you always did, and NEVER change that. Because that is how you guys got friends, and i am sure neither she or you want to loose this.

Yes, it is sad the fact that now she knows that, but she is still being the same person! Think about it Santtu.

In other words, help her to get few minutes in her day that she completelly forgets about it.

Got turned down for another job today. Bleh.

I've been away a while. Where do I start?

Right, I was working for the Scottish Government in the department of agriculture doing some pretty specialist GIS work (geographical information systems) from June until the end of March. It was a temporary contract, and they realised they couldn't keep the temps in the new financial year. Long story short, 6 of us were out the door at the end of March.

I've applied for quite a few things since the new year (we got plenty of warning our contracts were ending). Today I had an interview for a warehouse job at a helicopter parts supplier. I was put forward for it by a recruitment agency I'm with, on the strength of my previous warehouse work experience. I was turned down because the job involves being on-call one week out of every four and they were concerned my evening classes in Cisco CCNA would interfere with it. I even explained to them that it's fine if I were to walk out at any time, because it's not lectures, just working in the computer lab at the college with the tutor present if you need help.

AAARGH! MORONS!

...aaaaaand breathe.

Also, I'm still single and have been for over a year now. It's getting frustrating. At least I have a shiny MX-5 parked outside and my new flatmate who moved in yesterday seems nice.

Not so much a bad day for me, but for the guy who imported my Supra for me. Some stupid woman ran a red light last night and t-boned his new 86, completely wrote it off. He's hoping it'll be classed as a repairable write-off so he can buy it back and turn it into a racing car though.

Got a pic of it on my phone, might upload it tomorrow...

  • 2 weeks later...

Someone I've only meet 2-3 times is very very very sick, has some kind of disease, these news ruined my day. Felt so damn sad , called my girlfriend but didn't have the guts to tell her that I am sad. I worked out, that always keeps my mind clear but not now...

That's what I've been doing as I don't like talking about it anyways. Many of her friends have abandoned her when she most needs them, I'm trying to be there for her whenever she needs someone.

In other news, I applied to an arts-based university (to study acting) and they have a really tough entrance exam and I'm travelling to Helsinki (the capital of Finland) for it tomorrow. I haven't been preparing myself enough and I'm fairly sure I'm going to mess up everything there >_>

I thought you were shy and not so out going, but you're going to an acting uni Santtu. :p It'll be good, don't worry!

Like I wrote in my application, "under the shy cover, you'll find an energetic, friendly young man who's 100% dedicated to everything he decides to take on" :p

Thanks for the support guys, I'll let you know how it goes :)

Not really a bad day, more whats been digging at me the past few months...

I feel like im in a bit of a rut, always doing the same things and seeing the same 2 people, and talking to them as well. With my other friends I don't here from that often due to them not using social media or when texting them it's basic replays. Doesn't help I'm not seeing them as much as I used to.Then there's the fact I get the idea one of my friends is avoiding me since he started going out with my ex a few months ago. That doesn't bother me, but if he is avoiding me because of it then that does.

And that moves me onto the fact that everyone I know is now in a relationship...and Im just on my own. Easy to say "go meet new people", but when you work 48hr week, all night shift...it's not easy, or is the fact I'm shy.

Always though that when I had my car, a good job & money I'd be happy.

Moan over.

Just found out my favorite teacher died of a heart attack this morning. Before his class, I used to hate to do math, but when I was in his class, he made it interesting. He would crack jokes and treated us not as students like most teachers do, but as adults. I had just talked to him a day or two ago and he asked me how my math grade this year was and gave me his signature knuckle punch. I never cry about anything, but when I found out, I immediately started crying.

Went to look at the 330D I mentioned in the Good Day thread last weekend. Turned out to be (rather as per usual) not as good as it looked in the photos. A couple of defects on the rear bumper which would've annoyed me, don't know how you could reverse into something when your car has rear parking sensors anyway. Then I noticed all of the tyres were ditch-finders, alloy wheels looked scabby inside. Strike one. A dent in the front wing, odd defects on the bonnet and other areas of the car. Strike two. Then I noticed one of the rear arches had some corrosion bubbling up, not noticeable when looking at the car side-on, but down at wheel height it was easy to see. Strike three.

A combination of all of those meant I didn't test drive it, I didn't look at the service history and to be honest I never even sat in the driver's seat. As far as I'm concerned, if a car like that has ditch-finders all round and so many of the other defects I mentioned then the previous owner probably didn't care for it too much and didn't want to spend money on it otherwise they would've put some decent tyres on it and got the dents and scratches sorted out. What else did they scrimp on as well.

I know I'm looking at used cars at the end of the day, but that car had twice as many defects as the 306 on the exterior and it's five years newer. The search will continue, but for now the 306 is safe and I'll now be putting two more good tyres (doesn't need them, but I'm fed up of looking at the two miss-matched ones on the back) on that and sorting out a couple of other things ready for it's MOT soon.
