:duck: Quack!

A fair amount of the gaming community is usually interested in TV shows too, so I think it'd be interesting to know what everyone's favourite tv series are.

List your top 10, if you can give a reason for the top few (Or all) as to why it's your fav then it'd be even better. You can list shows you've got on the go afterwards too, other than your top 10.

I apologise to those that haven't watched Breaking Bad (Or Game of Thrones) about how often it will most likely be discussed below.

Copy this if you cba pressing the number list button in advanced post:

You mean, that internationally famous and very successful (though awful, imo) show isn't porn? Absolutely no one here would have guessed! :p

Interesting list, I didn't expect to see two broke girls in this thread! it's awful but I like it, like a guilty pleasure.

1. The Big Bang Theory

I found out about the show rather randomly in 2011, so pretty late, but since that moment I've been hooked up on it and never missed any episode. I really, really like it. It's the only TV show I watch these days.

2. Friends

I started crying when I was watching the last episode. Is that enough?

3. HIMYM

Just the first five or six seasons. Then it went downhill.

4. Top Gear

I prefer the early episodes of the "new" TG when they were actually reviewing cars; nevertheless, it's hard not to download the newest episode. It's still Top Gear.

5. Alarm Für Cobra 11

It's of the same vintage as me, 1996, and I remember watching Semir and his fellas at around age of 4 or 5. It's still going in Germany. Every Thursday at around 8PM on RTL Television. I need to download some 'neue Folgen'. There is some heavy marketing going on from BMW and MB as Semir. Absolutely brilliant.

6. The Simpsons

I don't know why it isn't higher on my list. :hmmm:

That's all. I don't watch TV and I have not been at cinema for ages.

Just the first five or six seasons. Then it went downhill.

Oh Jesus NO. 3 series per day of HIMYM are running on the TV in Germany, starting right after I arrive home from school (I maybe catch 4 minutes of TBBT which runs before). Not only that, they are showing just one and the same season, which shold be 5 or so. And so we got one season per week, and every week the same episodes. I am getting crazy of it. It was cool the first half year I found HIMYM, but now it's just annoying

6. Police Squad (Leslie Nielsen GOAT)

7. The Simpsons (earlier seasons)

1. Mythbusters

Hilarious, interesting, too popular. Should I think of ONE bad thing about them, it's that they indirectly spawned that stupid kidcrew of ''Crash Lab''.

2. Scrapheap Challenge

The original series with the original setup, and with Robert Llewellyn as host.

3. Fast 'n Loud

They're hilarious, and I can't get enough of shows doing cars.

4. Fifth Gear

I've watched this show before I knew about Top Gear, as strange as it may sound. TG might be funnier but Fifth Gear just suits me better with their more serious approach.

5. Chasing Classic Cars

Can I have his life? His contacts? His job?

6. Wheeler Dealers

Any season, any setup, from the first series to the current Trading Up series.

7. Road Wars UK

Ye... why do I like this so much?... To see people being caught because they had to get into trouble, to see how the police reacts on certain things. I like police chases too. Thanks to Electronic Arts, it was NFS3 that got me into police pursuits lol.

8. Blik op de Weg

I think this translates to ''View on the Road'', it's a bit like Road Wars, but a little less action-packed. Also, it follows traffic police catching traffic offenders such as speeders or dangerous drivers. It's not like Road War's regular police who have to respond to stuff like robberies, burglaries, domestic violence or public disturbance.

9. American Chopper

Yay, something not car related! Swearing, joking, fooling around, and building bikes. Yep

10. The Dukes of Hazard

The car. The fun. The car. The action. The chases. The car. Rosco. J.D. Hogg.... The car?

Yep, a looooooooooooooot of cars in there. That's because I'm not counting in the shows I watched when I was very young, such as the old Cartoon Network, or even longer ago, stuff like Sesame Street. In addition, for Cartoon Network I'd simply nominate the whole channel minus maybe 5 shows. And ofcourse I can mention a lot more series, especially on Discovery Channel, like American Hot Rod, American Casino and the whole A Car/Plane/Helicopter Is (Re)Born with Mark Evans. When I was young and they had it on tv here I also watched Battle Bots. The US series, in which Grant Imahara (yep, him) participated, and Bill Nye was the one going a bit more indepth on some of the robots etc.

And on dutch tv... well... The only show I kinda like is called Miljoenenjacht, which means ''Hunt for the Millions''. Simply put, it involves 25 golden suitcases with money in them (a cardboard cheque) from €0,01 up to 5 million. Contestant has to pick one suitcase which he keeps with him. Then, he has to eliminate the remaining suitcases by picking them. They get opened up and the more low money amounts he eliminates, the more high money amounts are still in the game, and the higher the offer will be from the ''bank'' to buy that suitcase he kept safe. Contestant can choose to accept the offer, or continue eliminating more suitcases.

I know there might be a show like this in the UK for it too, but I don't know the name :p.

6. Police Squad (Leslie Nielsen GOAT)

Great show.

5. Little Britain

Possibly the funniest show around.

6. The Inbetweeners

8. Not Going Out

Oh dear god the horror :p

1. Chuck

Very Niche show but I don't regret watching it, definitely a guilty pleasure, you know it's not like, amazingly written when watching but it's entertaining so who cares.

2. Scrapheap Challenge

The original series with the original setup, and with Robert Llewellyn as host.

Great show, I always try to catch the repeats on Channel 5 in the UK when they're on.

@Merc: no that's one of the few bikes I've never seen the episodes of on TV. Eventually I did see some parts of that build on Youtube and I've seen pictures here and there of the bike itself.

@Llama: ye it was a great show. I loved how they managed to end up with such different approaches and hoping they'd really pull it off to get the tasks done.

  1. The Good Wife: The main thing with this show is consistency, it's always been amazing, it started off great and the quality hasn't dipped. It manages to be Adult without going down the nudity, sex, excessive language or gore/violent route, it's a mature show but manages to be extremely entertaining all the time. Great acting too.
  2. The West Wing: Also a consistently amazing show. Very serious and dealt with quite heavy topics, but always managed to find a sense of humour or not be too deep too much so that it was too stressful to view. The Jackal, need I say more to those that have watched the show.
  3. Sex and the City: Easy for a straight male teenager to think EWWW, but it's so entertaining while at the same time, it was quite a pioneer in its day, it was quite important in bringing topics to the masses that hadn't really been discussed that much in such a big way. It's a guilty pleasure at times and not something everyone will enjoy but I've always wanted to be Samantha since watching it.
  4. Gossip Girl: I got into this show when I was going through some difficult times, and watched it with some amazing people, so It'll always be held close to my heart. It's just so entertaining and hilarious that some of the more awful storylines can be overlooked.
  5. House of Cards (US): Amazing TV show, Kevin Spacey is amazing in it, as his is on-screen wife. The writing is amazing, the acting, the production too, it's very much a pioneer at the moment. It's politics, which to a lot of people would scream EWW, but it's god damn entertaining.
  6. Friends: I'm quite glad I started watching it when it was still being broadcast, it's just a nice thing to say for someone my age as I know not everyone my age did catch on before it finished. It's just so easy to watch over and over again. "DID SHE GET OFF THE PLANE?!" should say it all.
  7. The Newsroom: It has to be on this list simply due to how brave it is, it's by the same writer as The West Wing, and it shows, It's not held in that high regard by some people, but I get where the writer wanted to take it, and I think it's brave in tackling events that have actually happened rather than invent something which is much much easier to do.
  8. Game of Thrones: The size of the cast, the amount of storylines, the amount of nudity, the amount of violence, everything is in excess but it just WORKS.
  9. 30 Rock: Hilarious show, hilarious cast, mostly Saturday Night Live people, It had a fairly long run of episodes which I'd recommend you to watch if you haven't already, it's so much fun and it's so addictive.
  10. Brothers and Sisters: An odd choice, very serious, not always entertaining to watch, but it's a very good show in learning life lessons, it deals with cancer, death, family issues, individual issues within a family, it's heavy storyline after heavy storyline with much happiness surrounding it but it's a very good show to watch and to mature while watching it.

So many TV shows that could have made the list, i'll probably post a list of other TV shows I love later on in here too.
