Amusing/Stupid things you believed as a child

I saw this kind of thread on another board and thought it was quite hilarious to see all the things that people used to believe as a child.

 

Things such as:

- The world used to be black and white until someone invented colour.

- You could get a plane to the moon.

- Funny things you thought babies come from.

That certain people weren't actually my uncle/aunty but we just called them that when young. Were friends of my parents.

I thought men and women were 'the same'. Which confused me a lot as you can imagine. I also believed that shops would give you change if you didn't have enough money, to make up the difference >.< Although that was a loong time ago.

I thought I could save the world by catching the Y2K bug. I was little and didn't realise it was a computer bug, I thought it was a physical bug/insect thing that I could catch by digging holes in the backyard. So I ripped our back lawn to shreds with a hammer and a spade.

Talking about digging, I used to think you could dig quite easily to beijing or wherever through the center of the earth.

Oh yeah, digging: I thought that if you'd dig to the center of the earth, the hole would basically be like a volcano with lava and stuff at the bottom, and if anything fell in there, the whole earth would explode. I actually had nightmares of this when I was a really little kid :lol:
